ABSTRACT
The case of a patient with a complicated total knee prosthesis with pain, impaired mobility and fever at postoperative week 8 is presented herein. Infection was suspected and the impossibility of the available means to distinguish it from «aseptic» loosening is emphasized. The problem of making a certain diagnosis was addressed by performing an arthroscopy with biopsy. A review of the recent literature led to the conclusion that arthroscopy is a beneficial and effective procedure for the complications of TKR.
