ABSTRACT
Among the most frequently health problems found in our environment we have asthma and allergic rhinitis which have mites among the main etiological factors. In Cuba, the most frequently mites found in the house dust of asthmatic patients are:
– Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus
– Dermatophagoides siboney
– Blomia tropicalis
In order to determine specific IgE to mites found in the environment (
D. pteronyssinus, D. farinae, D. microceras and
B. tropicalis), using the Prick-Test and correlation between the title of the IgE with the corresponding cutaneous test this work was done. There were taken 33 asthmatic children’s serums and those children with possible allergy to the mites. The patients’ percentage with one title of positive specific IgE varied from 36.3% for the
Blomia tropicalis to 51.5% for the
Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and the possitivity of the cutaneous tests from 72.7 for the microceras to 93.9% for the
D. pteronyssinus. The greater cutaneous reactions were to the
D. pteronyssinus. The correlation between the cutaneous tests and the title of the specific IgE was significant for all mites. As a conclusion we can say that the mites belonging to the
Dermatophagoides and to the
Blomia species are the predominants in our environment and that the cutaneous tests result acceptable to identify the patients’ sensibility to the mites.
