ABSTRACT
In this paper the adequate practice for the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of rodents in poultry farms is described. The most heavily infested areas had factors that encouraged the invasion of rats
Rattus norvegicus. Modifications of the conditions of the poultry farm, targetting an efficient management of waste, management of areas providing rodent habitat surrounding the farm and applications of rodenticides to specific areas are recommended. The rodenticide diphacinone wased in this study. This rodenticide is of low risk to non-target species. One of the goals of the Mammalogy Laboratory in the Institute of Biology at the "Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México" is to generate practical and applicable information that will provide an IPM strategy to the poultry industry.
