ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protection induced by inactivaded Blue Eye disease virus vaccine. One pregnant sow was vaccinated intramuscularly twice. Its 4 day old suckling piglets were challenged and hardly developed any signs of the disease. Protective immunity confered to the litter was 71.4% in the experimental group and 0% in unvaccinated control suckling piglets. Further ten postweaning pigs were vaccinated to evaluate the immunogenicity of the vaccine each month for six times after vaccination using the seroneutralization test. Antibody titrers were 1:32 and there were no clinical signs, periods of fever nor growth arrest. This vaccine proved to be innocuous and confered immunity.REFERENCES
