ABSTRACT
An experiment to evaluate growth promoters was conducted with one thousand broileis from one to fortynine days of age. Additioned to basal diets, sorghum + soybean meal treatments were fed to five replicates of fifty birds each one. The treatments on experimental diets were: 1) control; 2) 100 ppm of
Bacillus subtilis (10
10 spores/g; 3) and 100 ppm of zinc bacitracin and 4) 1000 ppm of a product based on a life culture of
Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus faecium, Sacharomyces cerevisiae and enzymes (amilases, proteases and celulases). Data obtained regarding weight gain (1904, 1933, 1977 and 1948 g, respectively), was similar among treatments. However, a higher growth response was observed in chicks additioned with zinc bacitracin. Feed conversion (1.96, 1.94, 1.90 and 1.93, respectively) was significantly improved with zinc bacitracin and
Lactobacillus. Results in this trial indicate a better performance in broiler fed with bacitracin.
