ABSTRACT
Hyaline cartilage injuries are permanent, since they can be repaired by themselves. There are three types of techniques for their treatment: Palliative procedures, that generally, consist in arthroscopy debridation of the joint, and it may include sinovectomy. Reparative techniques, which consist in a multiple subchondral drilling performance, and the Restitutive techniques, virtually represented by the implantation of cultivated chondrocytes and by the osteochondral grafts application. This last one seems to be the most convenient and if it is combined with growth factors the effect is even better. These techniques are indicated in medium or large size cartilage defects and it is preferable to do this procedure in young patients.
