ABSTRACT
Fat embolism is referred to as the presence of fat in the blood stream associated or not to a series of signs and symptoms that vary in severity. Habitually it starts as a mechanical injury to the fat tissue, and may be present with local cutaneous affections or chronic systemic symptoms. During the last decades, patients have developed an increased interest to modify their body contour. Substances such as polymethylmethacrylate have been used with diverse results, including multiple complications. A case report of a patient who had a severe complication after polymethylmethacrylate infiltration is presented.REFERENCES
