ABSTRACT
An experiment was carried out to evaluate hydrated sodium aluminosilicate used to reduce aflatoxin toxicity in diets for broilers. Two commercial products were used with diets containing B1 (35 to 45 ppb) aflatoxin contaminated corn. Results showed statistically significant differences between treatments on broilers´ weight. Diets containing commercial hydrated sodium aluminosilicate produced higher body weight at 56 days of age (2386 and 2352 g) than those with AFB1 (2293 g). There was no statistically significant difference between treatments of broilers´ feed consumption nor on feed conversion or mortality. Highest AFB1 levels in litter were found in the positive treatment (75 and 60 ppb), directly related to final feed contamination level. Data confirms that hydrated sodium aluminosilicate produces an AFB1 adsorbing affect in broilers practical diets containing 35 to 45 ppb. A beneficial effect on growth in broilers with treatments using commercial sodium aluminum silicate was observed.
