Presencia del virus rábico en fauna silvestre en la jurisdicción Sanitaria No. II del Estado de San Luis Potosí (México)

ABSTRACT
In Mexico the cases of human rabies, they have diminished, nevertheless this suffering is a problem of excellent public health. It is so the presence of the rabies virus in wildlife, when it has been the infection observed, this it doesn't evolve to the illness or death what the risk increases for the population exposed in suburban and rural areas. The present study one carries out during a period of twelve months (February 1999-January 2000) in the Sanitary Jurisdiction No. II of San Luis Potosí's state (Mexico); 115 animals which were captured in this period, being sent later on for their determination to the Antirabic Laboratory and Control of State Zoonosis, of the Services of Health in San Luis Potosí where used the inmunofluoresencia test. Of the 115 obtained samples 33.9% came from the municipality of Vanegas; and 60.9% of the samples was of chiropters specimens; 48.7% of the considered specimens came from death for accident; being three positive analysis of rage corresponding to animals captured in Santo Domingo, Venado and Moctezuma. The positive tests were of a chiropters Tadarida brasilensis (Family Molossidae; Order Chiroptera) y two skunks, Spilogale putorios (Family Mustelide; Order Carnivorous). which had as characteristic to be wildlife aggressor and with behavior change. The discoveries of this study allow us to assert that the virus of the wild rabies is in circulation in the area of the Sanitary Jurisdiction No.II of San Luis Potosí's state (Mexico).REFERENCES
