Association between Dermatophagiodes pteronyssinus and allergic rhinitis

ABSTRACT

A transversal and descriptive study was made in 70 allergic rhinitis patients from Calixto García Hospital out patient Allergic Department. We considered nasal citology, skin Prick-test and nasal provocation with a Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus extract in 100 BU. Citology and Prick-test were positive in 74.3% of the patients. Eighty percent of the positives skin tests had positive nasal provocation too. We concluded that there were a close association between positive results in Prick test, citology and nasal provocation with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus extract in the allergic rhinitis patients evaluated.
