ABSTRACT
Since the thirties, polychloro bifenilos (BPC's) have been used as liquid insulants and cooling solutions in transformers and capacitors because of their chemical qualities. In general, BPC are organochloro compounds that form a large type of sustances such as oily liquids, crystalline white solids, and crude resins. It is known about possible risks produced by BPC explosion and it can cause damages to the nervous system, hepatic lesions, deficiency of enzimatic system and harms in adults' reproductive system. It is also known that about 25% of BPC are absorbed by human beings through inhalation and the other 75% through food products; animal products are the main source and fish gives between 4 and 5 %. In general, toxicological effects of BPC in human beings have not been recognized yet.
