ABSTRACT
We have studied the potency and recovery characteristics of rocuronium during 1.3 MAC of desflurane and sevoflurane anaesthesia in 60 patients divided in groups of 30 subjects each using Train of Four monitoring. In this experimental study the recovery index was determined during anaesthesia with desflurane and sevoflurane. Mann-Whitney test was used, as it results adequate to perform statistical analyses of physical characteristics and pharmacokinetic data. Following equi-effective dosing the 25 T recovery index was 18.23 ± 2.5 and 30.3 ± 4.6 minutes during desflurane and sevoflurane anaesthesia respectively. The 75% index recovery was 33.4 ± 4.6 and 46.1 ± 5.9 minutes under desflurane and sevoflurane anaesthesia respectively. Interaction of rocuronium and volatile anesthetic sevoflurane resulted in increased intensity of neuromuscular block compared with desflurane anesthetic. Significant differences on duration or recovery time and characteristics from the block between desflurane and sevoflurane anaesthesia were determined.REFERENCES
