ABSTRACT
The determination of microalbuminuria is fundamental to detect those patients in risk of developing kidney damages. This research was done for the purpose of proving the usefulness of this determination, done with reactive strips, as a complement of the urine general exam in the early detection of kidney damages. Four hundred and fifty samples, which entered to the lab for an urine general exam, were studied. The exam was done in all of the samples and the determination of the microalbuminuria. From the 450 samples that were analyzed, 30 of them (6.6%) showed microalbuminuria, being negative to proteins in the urine general exam. The possible kidney damage in these patients shouldn’t have been detected only by using urine general exam. That’s the reason why the determination of the microalbuminuria through the use of reactive strips is really useful as a complement of the urine general exam being suitable as a scrutiny trial for detecting possible kidney damage.REFERENCES
