ABSTRACT
Introduction. The knowledge of the incidence of dengue in a population is an important factor for the control and decision making of the preventive measures. This incidence can be determined if the doctors ask for the necessary diagnostic studies for their confirmation and if the cases are reported to the health authorities.
Objective. The objective of this study was to determine the personality factors that are associated with their participation in the system of monitoring of dengue cases in a group of general and family physicians from four public health institutions in Mérida city.
Material and Methods. These factors were analyzed by a model of logistic regression. Personality factors were studied by Cattell’s method.
Results. Among these factors, factor F characteristic of enthusiastic people, was associated to a positive attitude towards participation in the dengue surveillance system, which was established in their work site.
