ABSTRACT
Objective: This article was intended to identify the relationship between family planning program and both reproductive patterns and transformations in values, social norms, traditions and culture.Material and Methods: In the community San Gabriel Azteca, Hidalgo, the demographic transition has been achieved by women born during the seventies. This process was determined by non-quantitative factors related to social and cultural norms. The results were obtained starting from the application of three different techniques of qualitative investigation (grupal interview, focal groups, histories of life and histories in depth) to men and women of different age groups that were united and they had at least a son.
Results: Important changes were observed in the perception and the values that have the men and women of different generations and appears as common denominator: the form in that they live the sexuality. While the masculine sexuality is conceived unrestrainable by nature, the feminine is denied. The culture, the uses and customs of the community are factors that locate the women like sexless beings that only experience the sexuality to sum up their function of mothers. In this sense, the feminine identity is developed in the maternity.
Conclusions: Changes experienced by subjectivity, derived from changes in vital experience and social norms, result in changes in reproductive behavior, union age, sexuality, gender conditions, attitudes before raising children and fecundity control.
