ABSTRACT
Bilateral subtrochantheric osteotomies were done in both femurs of eight adult dogs, it was fixed with intramedullary nails, on the right femur it was settled an internal device connected to the nail to apply hypertherm, on the left femur the fracture was fixed just with a simple intramedullary nail. The next day after surgery we started to increase the temperature five degrees Celsius over the intramedullar temperature registered: 39° to 44°C and it was held for six weeks. We got X-ray control and biopsy every two weeks from both femures of each dog during six weeks. All the complete femurs were sent to anatomopathology study and the positive influence of this factor in the callus formation was demonstrated by shortening the time of its appearance and quality.
