ABSTRACT
This is a brief history of the endomedullar nailing of long bones. It contains the main antecedents of this method’s development since the Precolombian times in Mexico, making an emphasis on its main area of enhancement: Germany in the first half of the XXth Century, and the method’s acceptation in America after World War II. Also mentioned, are the most recognized scientist researchers whom gave place to the development of this system which, throughout the years until today, is considered the most efficient method for the treatment of long bone fractures.
