ABSTRACT
Introduction: Antiphospholipid syndrome is part of a wide range of autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus. As part of retina features of the disease we may find signs of oclusive vasculitis with tractional retinal detachment.
Case report: A 30 year old female patient with ischemic retinopathy and tractional retinal detachment, total aortic obstruction was documented with renal failure, positive lupic anticoagulant and positive anticardiolipine antibodies. Antiphospholipid syndrome diagnosis was made.
Discussion: Although the most common cause of ischemic retinopathy is diabetes, there are other diseases that must be ruled out, mainly in young patients, such as antiphospholipid syndrome.
