ABSTRACT
Endoscopic laser microsurgery is a not well known and used technique for the treatment of upper aerodigestive tract malignancies in Mexico. However, its effectiveness has been proved worldwide by medical centers, especially in Europe. The field in which more experience has been made is in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma treatment. Laser microsurgery oncologic results are similar as those obtained by open external approach or radiotherapy. In this study, the principles of the technique, advantages and results of this “novel” treatment modality are described.
