ABSTRACT
Development stages of a tropical Mexican isolate of
Dictyocaulus viviparus were identified in the present study. One hundred young larvae from each, first (J1), second (J2) and third (J3) stages were obtained from the manour of an experimentally infested cow. The same number of fourth stage- and immature adults were identified by guinea pig inoculation and euthanization. Total length, aesophagus length, body width, and according to the developmental stage, the length from the anus to the tip of the tail's sheath, were registered. Likewise, morphologic characteristics of each stage were studied. This is the first description of first, second, third, and fourth stages in male and female immature adults for a Mexican
Dictyocaulus viviparus isolate.
