ABSTRACT
The present document reports a prospective randomized study, carried out in 60 patients who underwent abdominal and orthopedic surgery at the Tacuba General Hospital. The main objective of this research was to asses the efficacy, duration and tolerance of the Buprenorphine-Bupivacaine association, administered by the epidural route for the postoperative pain control. Three groups of 20 patients each, were formed, Buprenorphine-Bupivacaine was administered in patients in Group A; Group B was administered Buprenorphine alone, and group C, was administered Bupivacaine alone. The drugs were administered in a single dose in all cases, CR, RR, AT, side effects and "EVA", were all evaluated to asses pain intensity. Postoperational analgesy was definitely better in the Buprenorphine-Bupivacaine group. We conclude there is a higher efficacy, effictivity and tolerance with this association.
