ABSTRACT
In order to investigate the nutritional state and scholar efforts in 600 high school students between 12 to 16 years old into low socioeconomic zone at south of Cd. Obregon, Sonora Mexico, were studied. An anthropometric evaluation that refereed an individually estimation of nutritional body state based in physical dimensions and corporal weight, was carried out. The most important associations across food preference, nutritional sate and scholarship yield, were evaluated. A structured test that included: age, gender, scholarship, food preferences, anthropometric evaluations, potential dangerous food diet (soft drinks, salt products, fried products), and perceptions of environmental food sources as vegetables, fruits and vegetable oil, were applied. Statistical data were done using a “t” student test (a=0.05). Feed pattern shown a significant preference to eat snacks, soft drinks, beans, soups and eggs; however, fresh vegetables consumptions is less. The 9% of people sample, shown over weight problems and 3% of sample shown obesity type I. The over weight type I, showed high statistical differences in women (64%) than in men (32%) (p‹0.05). Malnutrition index showed statistical difference (p‹0.05) among both genders and it was 42% of the total people sample studied. On the other hand, the teenagers who were out of weight limits according their Body Mass Index (BMI), showed less scholar efforts (p‹0.05). Teenagers who showed overweight type I and obesity index type I, showed up the least scholar efforts among the second bimestrial of the study.
