ABSTRACT
Child undernutrition is related with children characteristics and their caregivers, although their effect impact in different levels. The aim of this study was to analyze the repercussion of the feeding practices and some sociodemographic variables on the characteristics of child’s intake and his nutritional status in a sample of infants. Participated 163 dyad -infants aged 5 - 27 months old and its caregiver- of different areas of Mexico state (Mexico). Sociodemographics, anthropometrics, healthy and feeding data were collected. Were the results showed reported high levels of children undernourished, these is explained by statistically significant differences founded for measures of nutriments intake. This result shows the feeding practices should be factors of protection or risk for the child undernutrition. Future directions for research must pay attention to characteristics of these practices, which are susceptibility to change.
