ABSTRACT

The primary carcinoid tumor is a low-grade malignancy that, occasionally, has been reported as a primary renal tumor. We present the case of a 31 years old man who consulted for a renal colic. The imaging studies revealed a right kidney solid tumor of 3 cm in diameter. In the histological examination were seen trabeculae and nests of cells with eosinophilic small cytoplasm and granular nucleus. Carcinoid tumours were demonstrating a more indolent course than renal cell carcinoma; however, were described metastases to regional lymph nodes, liver and bone. Currently, ten months later, the patient is asymptomatic with no alterations in the images.
