ABSTRACT
Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a variant of metaplasic carcinoma. It is a rare tumor that can be mixed up with benign or atypical lesions and its diagnosis can be difficult to establish. We present a 39-years old woman case with three nodules in left breast. Surgical specimen showed a tumor composed by atypical spindle cells alternated with pleomorfic cells immersed in fibrous stroma. In the periphery of the lesion, ductal carcinoma was observed. We discussed the nomenclature, the differential diagnoses and the prognoses factors of a tumor that could have a more aggressive clinical course compared with the classic ductal carcinoma.
