ABSTRACT
Bartonella spp. is a gram-negative microorganism that can produce several illnesses. They have a wide geographical distribution and transmission mechanisms. It has recently been shown that can induce vascular proliferation and has been recognized as the etiological agent of bacillary angiomatosis and hepatic peliosis. In this article we review the general aspects of infections due to
Bartonella spp, its epidemiology, its major clinical manifestations, as well as their treatment and prevention. It is important to consider
Bartonella spp and better know its epidemiology, to reduce its morbidity and mortality.
