Pregnancy in adolescents.Demographic study of 218 patients

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The adolescence is an opening to real sexual possibilities there is biological capacity for the sexual exercise, but there still is not psychological capacity to understand it inside the context of a responsible relationship. The objective of the study was to know the characteristic sociodemographics of the pregnant adolescents of a municipality of characteristic sui generis.
Material and methods: Study observational, prospective, transverse, descriptive, using statistic of central tendency, and percentages. Inclusion approaches: Pregnant of 11 to 18 years.
Results: They were interviewed a total of 218 pregnant adolescents during the period of study finding the following data: Age: average of 14.9 years old (mode of 16 and medium of 16.4 years). Sexual orientation: mother 39.0%. Civil state: Union free 44.0%. Alcoholism in the home: positive 62.3%. Abuse sexual: positive in 18%, estupro in 13.3%, violation in 13.3%. Menarca: minimum and maxim age of 9 and 16 years old. Beginning active sexual life: minimum to the 11 and maxim to the 18 years. Abuse sexual: negative 82.1%.. Abortions: 8.7%. Knowledge of birth-control methods: negative 47.2%. Use previous of birth-control methods: yes 8.8%. Use previous of contraceptive: not 91.2%. Pregnancy wanted: yes 50.4%.
Conclusions: In this study a normal pattern met for a society like the Mexican with a media of 17 years old. Although it will be necessary to assume that the behavior of the adolescents has changed for the sexual relationships and early couple search.
