ABSTRACT
In childhood the most frequent lacrimal disease is the obstruction of lacrimal duct, manifested as epiphora and repeated conjunctivitis, especially during the first year of life. Dacryocystorhinostomy is performed to deviate lacrimal fluid through an artificial aperture in the lacrimal bone and thus obtaining a rhinostomy. Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy is a procedure of one phase permitting correction of concomitant illnesses, such as septal deviation or chronic sinusitis that may be a causal factor of lacrimal obstruction. The key for correct indication is excluding presacal stenosis, in which endoscopic procedure is not recommended.
