ABSTRACT
Many studies have shown how mouth-breathing caused by airway obstruction may have an impact on dentofacial growth and development in children. Any restriction to the passage of air through the upper airways can cause nasal obstruction, which induces the patient to breath through the mouth. Mouth breathing leads to several changes on dental and facial morphology. Pediatricians must be aware of the problems related to mouth breathing since they play an important role in the diagnosis of these patients. Signs and symptoms of this pathology may e recognized clinically. The aim of this paper is to alert pediatricians for an early diagnosis and prevention of this condition.
