ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the frequency of temporomandibular disorders (TTM) in climacteric women who frequently visit the INPer, and correlate this entity with bone density and the level of anxiety.
Material and methods: a group of 103 patients, who filled the inclusion criteria, finding temporomandibular disorder, oral conditions, osteoporosis and anxiety level.
Results: Range of age: 52.2 (± 5.2). It was detected that 49.5% of the group presented articular noise when they open or closed their mouth. 83.5 % presented anxiety as a tendency of emotional reply. 47.5% presented osteopenia. The frequency of the TTM was 91.2%.
Conclusions: There is an association between TTM and anxiety level, there’s no association between lesions and bone density.
