ABSTRACT
Human papilloma virus (HPV) is an infection disease that occurs only in humans, HPV has the capacity to infect epithelial tissues and mucous membranes. Respiratory papillomatosis could be a subclinical or clinical infectious disease. The subtypes HPV6 and HPV11 are capable to produce a recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) and are associated to exofitic lesions in the airway with aggressive behavior and risk to malign transformation. RRP has many difficulties in treatment with tendency to recurrences and widespread thought the airway, although frequently affect the larynx the trachea and lungs are also affected. The RRP is an entity related to exposition oro-respiratory that occurs at birth when contact via vaginal occurs, in RRP the firsts symptoms are manifested in the childhood (between 6 months to 10 years old) but the onset also could be in adulthood. In that situation the RRP is considered a sexual disease secondary to orogenital contact. The respiratory papillomatosis has two well known forms: one is the juvenile form or aggressive, and the other one is the adult form or less aggressive, although the aggressive form could happens in adults.
