ABSTRACT
Introduction: The ethical responsibility of the educational labor depends on knowing when to act with responsibility and having the certainty that the formation of the young hood is hold in the instructors’ hands; the professors, who inside of the classrooms are in charge of the authority, which must be exerted in a democratic way, allow the creation of certain environments whether they facilitate or not the construction of knowledge in alumni. Objective: To construct and validate and instrument that explores the students perceptions regarding how much the educational environment where they are immersed is favorable or not for the construction of their knowledge.
Methodology: A self-applied instrument for students was constructed and validated; in that, 5 indicators of the prevalent circumstances or conditions in their educational environment were included. To validate them, is was necessary to do two rounds from experts, until gather up a consensus (five out of five or four out of five) on a hundred statements prearranged by pairs. The instrument was implemented as a pilot within six groups of students from different semester-levels in a nursing school.
Results: The confidence of the instrument with the Kuder-Richardson test obtained a score of 0.90 and to compare indicators through a test and re-test (Test of U of Mann Whitney), in none of them resulted any statistically significant difference, which supports the consistency of the instrument.
Discussion: According to the results, the instrument allowed the students achieving to discriminate a favorable environment to elaborate knowledge from another that is not. The instrument gathers the attributes of confidence level and validity to keep using it in the characterization of educational environments.
