Anxiety disorders and medical illness. Clinical experience

ABSTRACT

Inside of the mental disorders that more frequently are associated with medical illness are anxiety disorders; that are characterized by physical and psychological symptoms that affects the medical pathology. For this, we realize a theorical revision and a exploratory and retrospective study, for to know the anxiety disorders and the medical illness in the Department of Psychology of the Hospital Juarez of Mexico; the sample was of 15 patients, that were evaluated through psychological interviews, auto records, behaviour observances, and inventories of anxiety; we obtained clinical diagnostics besides in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), founded that generalized anxiety disorder associate with depression major disorder was more frequent, prevailing in feminine, between 35 and 54 years old; the psychological techniques cognitive-behaviour more used were: Auto control, cognitive restructuration, asertivity and problems solutions.
