ABSTRACT
A combination of an orthodontic appliance and a surgical technique makes easy the expansion of the palatine maxilar suture in adults. In this procedure a maxilar corticotomy is done; and a Hyrax‡ screw is used to obtain the expansion. The separation of the suture is confirmed by taking an oclussal X-ray, and it is also confirmed observing the separation of the maxillary central upper incisors.
