ABSTRACT
Purpose: To determine the stability of treatment for glaucoma associated to Sturge-Weber syndrome in patients of the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría from 1990 to 2001.
Methods: The clinic files with diagnosis of glaucoma associated to Sturge-Weber syndrome with a follow up greater to 1.5 years were analyzed.
Results: The median stability of the primary trabeculectomy (7cases) was 22.57 months, the secondary trabeculectomy (3 cases) and the second trabeculectomy had a median stability of 12.5 and 9.2 months. The median stability was prolonged with medication in 12.5, 44 and 9.7 months respectively.
Conclusion: The glaucoma associated with Sturge-Weber is of difficult control. The selection of the treatment depends from diverse factors, were the treatment stability and the repercussion to other treatments stand out.
