ABSTRACT
Duane´s retraction syndrome, also known as Stilling Turk-Duane syndrome, was described at the end of the 20th Century. It constitutes an unusual form of strabismus. Huber, in 1974, described three types depending on the grade of aberrant regeneration and electromyographyc characteristics. Recently a fourth clinical type has been described characterized by large exotropia and simultaneous abduction when the patient looks toward the healthy side; this new class was coined by Helveston as Duane class IV. The case of a patient with characteristic of this new class of syndrome is reported.
