ABSTRACT
We present a case of contact dermatitis due to a bracelet made in Cocobolo wood (Dalbergia retusa). This wood is obtained from a tree native of Central America. The epicutaneous study performed with specific allergens (obtusaquinone) confirmed the allergic nature of this reaction. There are more and more reported cases about contact dermatitis in people who use finished wood objects outside of their work environment. As in occupational cases, woods that have most often been described as responsible for these infrequent cases are those known as “exotic” woods from tropical trees.REFERENCES
