ABSTRACT
When the visual harmony is transgressed by different factors, the diverse characteristics of vision leave samples of its
affectation in several manifestations depending on the individual. In this essay Edgar Degas’ pictorial work and his visual transgression caused by macular degeneration are analyzed. In the last years of his production, Degas left the oil technique, due to his chronic macular pathology. The monochromatic works that Degas realized in his old age have been associated to the distortions in the vision field, typical of a maculopathy.
