ABSTRACT
Objectives: To evaluate the importance of ultrasound biomicroscopy in the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of the ciliochoroidal detachment.
Materials and methods: Prospective, transversal and observational study of case series. Patients with ciliochoroidal detachment or ciliary detachment secondary to surgery or trauma where gathered from June 2005 to June 2006. Every patient went through a clinical evaluation, ultrabiomicroscopy and B echography before and after the treatment.
Results: 10 patients and 11 eyes were included. Five patients presented ciliochoroidal detachment and 5 ciliary detachments. Three patients presented a relapse after criotherapy and a fistula from anterior chamber to suprachoroidal space was reported.
Conclusions: The ultrabiomicroscopy is the election technique for the detection of the ciliochoroidal detachment and its treatment.
