ABSTRACT
Introduction: Solitary Fibrous Tumors (SFT) of the orbit are uncommon tumors of mesenquimal origin, usually not present in pediatric population.
Case report: An 11-year-old boy had a history of 6 months of swelling of his right upper lid, a palpable mass of the orbit and diplopia. The ultrasound showed low reflectivity, attenuation and vascularity signs in the lesion. In the computerized tomography image we found a well circumscribed, extraconal mass with mild modeling of the orbital roof. The tumor was totally excised. Histological examination disclosed a spindle cell tumor.
Discussion: Orbital SFT is characterized by painless proptosis, it generally shows a slow, indolent and nonaggressive course, reaches a size up to 4.5 cm, and can be cured by single excision.
