Nitric oxide, a multifunctional molecule

ABSTRACT

Nitric oxide is an important regulator of various physiological functions and, additionally, a factor which contributes to the nonspecific immune response. Nitric oxide may also be associated to pathological processes such as asthma and chronic inflammation. The present article reviews some of the biochemical, physiological and immunological aspects of nitric oxide.
