ABSTRACT
Elevated intra-abdominal pressure can exhibit a series of pathologies that ranging from intra-abdominal hypertension to abdominal compartment syndrome, which without the adequate treatment can lead to death secondary to multiple organ failure syndrome. Our purpose is to extend the measurement of bladder pressure as the more useful indirect technique as it is simple, reproducible and has an excellent correlation with the direct intra-peritoneal pressure. We describe the technique in order to standardize the practice in our population.
