Knee arthroscopy without the use of ischemia devices

ABSTRACT

The percentage of adverse effects after the use of ischemia devices in knee arthroscopy is relatively high, likewise absolute contraindications exist for the use of these devices. In an intent of obviating this effects without sacrificing the visualization of the surgical field have appealed to the employment lidocaine to 2% with epinephrine and isobaric bupivacaine diluted in a solution of continuous irrigation. We report the experience obtained in a series of 133 subjected cases to arthroscopic surgery without the device use some for the transurgery ischemia. The technique is described and its advantages are pointed out, concluding that excellent results have been obtained as soon as the visualization of the surgical field.
