ABSTRACT
We will exemplify a case in wich a young woman suffering of Takayasu Arteritis underwent elect ive coronary artery bypass grafting in our institution. Although this patient developed left main coronary stenosis, she did not show any c1ínical sign of ischemia. She had been affected by cerebral stroke prior to surgery; she also had historial of multiple stenosis in another arteries including: carotid, femoral and basilar. The left main coronary stenosis increase the risk for perioperative myocardial ischemia. The multiple arterial occlusions in another organs exposed this patient to greater risk for perioperative complications. Surgical and anesthetic management became both a medical challenge for our surgical team due to the fact this is a disease rarely seen in cardiovascular surgery.
