ABSTRACT
The Endocarditis of the prosthetic valve (EVP) represents one complication serious in surgery change valvular that global frequency is 1-4%, mortality of 25-64%. In the Cardiology National Institute “Ignacio Chavez” (INCICH), the Control Infections Nosocomial Committee, to carry out keep epidemiology patients that present EVP, with evolution and treatment the patients.
Objectives: Obtain incidence of EVP in the INCICH, to recognize relation factors with morbi-mortality.
Material and methods: Was realize study descriptive, analytic, transversal and retrospective in period 1991 to 2002 of the valvular changes, to include the EVP episodes.
Results: Identificaty 44 cases of EVP of 4,271 valvular changes, was obtained level incident 1%; the mitral valve more affect 47.7%, aortic 34% and combination aortic and mitral 9%; microorganisms isolated are S. epidermidis with 54.5%, S. aureus 20.4%, gramnegative germ 11.3%. The EVP was watched an 61.3% in mechanic prosthesis and 38.6% in the biologic. The early EVP of 63.6% and late 36.3%.
Conclusions: In INCICH incidence EVP is low the accord with this publication, establishment measures for prevention infections nosocomials in periods trans and after of surgery change valvular; these influence in prevention directly in this event.
