ABSTRACT
Total protein and immunoglobulins (IgG, IgGT, IgM and IgA) were measured in 40 Spanish purebreed horse plasma in Cordoba (Spain). Mean plasma total protein in the Spanish purebreed horses is similar to the one reported in other breeds, however, differences in the mean plasma immunoglobulin concentrations were found. Thus mean immunoglobulin concentration in the breed studied was 1293.55 ± 77.39 mg/dl for IgG; 1057.17 ± 145.03 mg/dl for IgGT; 56.39 ± 5.38 mg/dl for IgM and 44.92 ± 3.25 mg/dl for IgA. Sex and age significantly influenced plasma immunoglobulin level concentration.
