ABSTRACT

The History of Childhood has yet to be written, but the existent sources relate a nightmare from whith we have only recently begun to awaken.
The History of Pediatrics has neither been written, not even from the time Pediatrics started to be a medical specialty, since the middle of the XIX century.
I offer an extense bibliography which is the base of this essay, that sustains a different point of view regarding the origin and development of Pediatrics and its influence in the change of attitude to children.
