ABSTRACT
We describe the experience of the Banco Central de Sangre del Centro Médico Nacional de Siglo XXI (Central Blood Bank at the Siglo XXI National Medical Center) in education in transfusional medicine. We reflect on a humanistic approach and perspective in regards to the teaching and learning process. The professional profile, highlighting the basic theoretical, practical, and—first and foremost—affective aspects of our staff is also included. Lastly the scientific and professional approach that may allow the individual to work as a team member, take responsibility for his/her continuous education, and carry out his/her activities with an institutional spirit based on humanism. We expect that patients become the axis around which all of our endeavors revolve. The basis for putting together the courses is to identify a need for training and establish the instructional diagnosis in a conceptual, real, situational, and regulatory domain. The approach is the conformation of operational groups, the participation of students in the evaluation of the instructor, and the promotion of self-learning.REFERENCES
