ABSTRACT
This study was done at the Aquaculture Center called Centro Acuicola "El Zarco" in order to evaluate fertility and viability between two lines of trouts (Zarco, Z.; Jilotzingo, J.) and their reciprocal crosses in a diallelic system. Fertility, viability and mortality during the early stages was better in the Jilotzingo line (P‹0.05). Mortality was higher (P‹0.05) in the crosses (12.65%) than in the pure lines (2.6%) in the first stages. The cross ZJ showed higher mortality (6.5%). These results indicated that no heterosis was found for these variables, and that female lines can be used to increase fertility.
