ABSTRACT
Anorectal manometry is a method to objectively assess different functional parameters of the ano-rectal region. It is possible the measurement of resting and squeeze pressures, as well as of the length of the high pressure zone. Adjuvant techniques using an intrarectal balloon allow assessment of the rectoanal inhibitory reflex, rectal sensitivity, capacity, and compliance. The better understanding of this parameters, improve the treatment of different functional diseases of the ano-rectal region.
